My favourite cross training activity is hiking. I really find it builds my endurance and my running definitely improves if I do it regularly. Usually I’ll head off on day hikes but with all the changes due to Covid I realised that I had more time on my hands as so many things have been postponed or cancelled and I’m not able to launch my Running Like a Wrinkly Running Groups as planned. So-I decided to plan a thru hike of the South Downs Way in the UK.
It was one of the most challenging things I’ve done, not least because I was solo, my backpack was too heavy and I hadn’t been in a tent since I was 16. Surely a disaster waiting to happen…
